Nifty head messing sounds like the chords you're using.

Bassline - the second note could be pitched down a semi-tone and you'd have a deeper sound.

Interesting track.

Nice beats ... like the old school breakbeat feel to it. Agree with the need for some more bass work. Maybe put a little rez on top to bring it out of the totally sub range. Good work so far.

I would be far more likely to listen to this on headphones than to spin it out. There's just so much going on, that you never let it really just sit on the groove for any period of time. There's like 607 breakdowns which is a treat for the ears, but hard on the booty.

So it depends on what you're going for with this track. If your looking for "listeners", you are right there. If you're looking to do dance floor damage, I think it needs simplification. As it stands now, it DEMANDS my full attention - but I wouldn't be able to chew gum and listen to this at the same time.

Nice work.

lol @ booty.

But I get yah.

This is good head$$$$ music...got stuff comin' in, goin' out...drumfills galore.

It doesn't let the mind grab a hold of the groove and ride it.

The Anatomy of a Dance Track:

Build up and hook them in and get them grooving a little

Break it down so that they feel the absense of the groove and want it back

Drop the bline on them hard and bring back the groove and the energy

let it ride and add some different sounds/fills/change ups to keep things interesting, but don't lose or change the groove too much (I hate songs that change tempo...)

When they're comfortable shake it up again with another drop, a new bline, etc. etc.

From my experience, I've spent the better portion of three years trying to innovate. Though it's been a great learning experience, and I have worked my production skills up considerably, I've made an effort over the last year or so to make the music more easily digested.

I just spread my ideas out over more tracks instead of packing a million of them into one. The benifits of this are:

1. People end up liking the tracks from the getgo, without having to listen a hundred times.

2. I have way more tracks to pick from for completion.

It really has helped me. But I support your views, too. I personally don't have the time or energy to write, record, mix AND promote something too out of the mainstream. Your music can be different, but radio/dj/club formats aren't likely to change just to accomodate an unknown artist. Blow up first, THEN go crazy with production is my new guideline.

It's just too dark for me - sorry .

Being different is good...you do need to shake the foundation every now and then in a track to discombobulate the dancers and get them on a slightly new ride...but too much of it makes it hard to dance to hard to mix and maybe even hard to listen to.
