South-East’s finest, Tinie Tempah, has come a long way since the age of 14. After releasing his Ghetto Koyote track, his name became vastly popular along with his status which has risen past the years. His unique voice and distinctive lyric content has allowed him to further his career in the music industry and has taken his talent world-wide including performances in Amsterdam, Germany and Aye Napa. The MC, influenced by the works of Bashee, Sway, Dizzy Rascal and Kano is now part of the Aftershock camp, producing new tracks and working with different MC’s and producers. After the recent success of his Wifey track, I caught up with him and heres what he had to say…
Tell us about the new mix-tape...
It’s called Hood Economics Room 147. I don’t want to bait it up at the moment though. Lets just say it’s gonna be big!
How long have you been Mc’ing?
Seriously? Around three to four years.
What have you enjoyed most?
Performing at Amsterdam, Germany and Aye Napa. I love meeting new people and am interested in different cultures. It was a real pleasure to share my music with people in other countries.
Tell us about the video…
Yeah! It’s for my Wifey track. It was directed by Digital Iris productions. It features many cameos but I don’t want to bait up any names. Let’s just say there is a surprise in stock.
Tell us about Aftershock?
Yeah! I’m in the Aftershock camp. It’s a record label that features big boy producers including Terror Danjah. We also worked with other singers and MC’s including Sadie, Kano and 2nice.
Most people often associate rap music to gun crime and violence. How would you respond to this?
Anything can be associated with violence. I personally feel that rappers and MC’s do not have the power to influence others to kill.
Anyone you would like to big up?
Yeah! Big up Aftershock camp, Chipmunk, Rebler, DJ Ironik, Yazmin, and Damn Tight productions!
