 Lioness is here ST-HILL! This 16 year old MC has come a long way since the age of 14. Shooting to fame thanks to the success of her first tune ‘storm’, she has just won a place in the final of ‘future hype’, a competition which selects some of the UK’s best MC’s. Influenced by the works of Bearman, Doctor, Fender, Drastik and Mr D, this young little Miss is sure to leave her mark on the grime scene having already worked with the likes of Joel Fender, L-Man and Queenie. As Mastermind Troopers only female member, her music heritage has only played a small part in the making of her career. She has used both Skitz and JCProRecordings beats and has already made a mixture of tunes which she is looking to release on her mini-mixed tape. Having already clashed Lady Xtra, she’s been involved in high collaborations with members of her family who are also MC’s. Now that she has finished her G.C.S.E’s, this ex lion cub has grown into a mature lioness and is ready to pull the music industry into her den!
What have you been up to lately?
I’ve just finished my G.C.S.E’s, which went great by the way. I have also released my new track called ‘Feeding Season’ which is also the name of my mini-mixed tape so make sure you watch out for that.
How did the name Lioness come about?
My beautiful brown eyes! Nah Jokes! They’re contacts but everyone likens them to lion eyes and that’s how I got my name.
I hear you have two videos coming out. Care to tell us about them?
Yeah! The first video is called ‘Rep your endz’. It features both my cousin Bearman and I, and also Subzero and L man. The second video is none of your business! Jokes! Nah but ona level its top secret so you just have to keep your eyes peeled.
What’s going on with you and Xtra?
(She kisses her teeth) – Where is she? No seriously! Where is she? But I have to give her ratings though, she’s pulled the lion out of me.
What would you say to her if you saw her now?

Who have you enjoyed working with most?
My cousin Joel because we have bare jokes in the studio and the vibe is always there.
Your latest tracks, Feeding season and St-hill consist of great lyric content may I add? What influences you when you’re writing bars?
I have to be angry so I do some mad one. I shut the curtains and just think of those who have pissed me off over the past.
Which MC do you have high hopes for in the future?
Queenie! She is so sick it’s unbelievable. She is the only one who makes me think, ‘I need to write more bars’!

Bertan’s final thoughts…
When I woke up this morning, I was thinking to myself, this girl has a lot of potential. Potential that can seriously get her far in the music scene. Having started at a young age, she has already gone through the remarks, being bitched about, being cheered and having beef with another member of the music game. She is looking forward to successful results in her G.C.S.E’s which shows that she is both smart and determined. I’d usually finish this part of the interview off with a ‘good luck’ or an ‘I hope life goes well for you’ speech. However, in this case, I’m going to finish it off with a warning to those who wish to go up against this female. This cat has got claws and she is not afraid to use them!
