The first ever House Music Awards took place at Neighbourhood club in West London and if this one was anything to go by this event will be firmly etched onto the house music fraternity's calendars for many years to come.
Packed to the rafters with all the scene's movers and shakers from artists, DJ's, producers + labels the atmosphere was electric. Packed to the rafters with all the scene's movers and shakers from artists, DJ's, producers + labels the atmosphere was electric.

Live performances came courtesy of some of this years biggest and best artists:
SHAPESHIFTERS, RON CARROLL, REEL PEOPLE, STONEBRIDGE, DANNY S, MUTINY, KUJAY DADA, INAYA DAY, MARTIN SOLVEIG + KATHY BROWN.
Highlights for me were Ron Carroll (‘Back Together' being my personal track of the year), and Inaya Day who was the most amazing live vocalist I've heard.
A special congratulations must go out to Defected Records who proved they have their finger truly on the pulse of the House Music scene by scooping 6 Awards on the night in total. No doubt there were a few Champagne corks popping for them that night.
But the main plus point to the night was that everyone mingled, caught up with old industry friends as well as making new ones. It was a true celebration of house music, and while some may say that dance music is dead, it was a real reminder that the scene is still flourishing & here to stay, the vocalists and production talent far outshines most standard ‘commercial' acts, and if the Brits want to drop their Best Dance Act category, then more fool them. The House Music Awards will, hopefully, be here to stay.
