Following the release of his two acclaimed Eps, ‘Basementality' in 2002 and ‘Love & War' in 2003 ‘I Believe in You' is the first single to be taken from Amp Fiddler's debut album ‘Waltz Of A Ghetto Fly'.
A Detroit native, Amp has been based for many years at Camp Amp, his home/studio in Conant Gardens on 7 Mile, just around the corner from the now imfamous 8 Mile. Amp also has claim to the musical legacy of this once thriving Northern Industrial town, a legacy that still manages to dominate the comtemporary music scene and includes Madonna, Eminem and the White Stripes in its ranks
The original/radio version of the song is an effortless slice of low slung funk, with a simple but instantly classic message of love. The single package features remixes from West London's Bugz In The Attic (Macy Gray, Bad Marsh & Shrii, Masters At Work, Nitin Sawney, 4 Hero) and Amp's own re-rub (using a J Dilla/Madlib instrumental from the acclaimed JAYLIB album).
The CD format also features an audio version and some very cool (broadcast quality) footage of Amp and his band recording 'I Believe In You' for their recent World-wide session for Gilles Peterson's show on Radio 1.
In addition to this, the "real" video for "I Believe In You" was directed by rising star Ruben Fleischer (Dizzie Rascal; Electric Six; DJ Format) and will be available from 5th January. It features AMP in his home environment in Detroit (super fly!) and features a guest appearance from Na'Keya Snoddy (co-starred in 8 Mile).
Amp will be playing live again in the UK early next year:
LIVE UK DATES: May 22nd @ The Forum in Kentish Town
'I Believe In You' is released 8th March 2004.
