| Sunday, 07 March 2004 Domenica, 07 Marzo 2004 |  The 46664 all star concert event was hosted by Nelson Mandela in Cape Town on November 29th 2003 and saw thirty of the world's biggest and most respected artists perform to a global audience of over 2 billion. Inspired by the vision & leadership of Nelson Mandela, the 46664 campaign, named after Mandela's prison number, was born to raise awareness of the global HIV/Aids pandemic, as well as funds for South Africa with proceeds going to the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Dave Stewart, who inspired the 46664 project, said, "I am delighted that this groundbreaking music launch which has brought together the artist community worldwide will result in our delivering the entirety of 46664 event on both CD and DVD to audiences globally." Nelson Mandela introduced the show by saying, "It is our great honour to introduce you to a gathering of very special people; special because they are amongst the most talented artists and performers in the world, locally and internationally; but special also because their fame and fortune have not removed them from caring and compassion."
