  He’s been one of the top club DJ’s to bring the delights of House music across to the underground raving scene over the past few years and now he makes his assault on the charts with his CD, ‘Timeless Anthems’. UKMusic.com had a brief chat with the man who’s known for tearing down raves with his refined selection and exclusive dubplates about his new CD and the progression of the House scene into the mainstream. How long have u been a DJ for? Wie lange haben u ein DJ für?
For about 10 years now. Seit etwa 10 Jahren. I started with Jungle then moved onto the Garage scene, a little bit into the Grime scene and then onto House. W hat tune is doing for you right now? W Hut tune tut für Sie mit der rechten jetzt?
There’s too many, I ain’t gonna lie. Es gibt zu viele, ich nicht Gonna liegen. There’sa tune called ‘Soul Fever’ by Steelo that I’m feeling at the moment but there’s too many to mention. Es gibt eine Melodie namens "Soul Fever" von Steelo, dass ich bin Gefühl im Moment, aber es gibt zu viele zu schweigen.
A s it’s supposed to be a more peaceful scene in comparison to say the Garage scene, how do you feel about violence marring certain House events in London and even preventing some from happening in the first place? A s ist es angeblich eine friedliche Szene im Vergleich zu sagen, dass die Garage-Szene, wie fühlen Sie sich über Gewalt marring bestimmten Haus Veranstaltungen in London und sogar die Verhinderung von einigen geschieht in erster Linie?
I’m kinda pissed off about it. Ich bin Kinda zufriedener darüber. All it is, is that everyone’s following the hype like it was back in the day with the Jungle, Garage and now the House scene. A year ago half those people that are causing the trouble weren’t even listening to it [House] and now everyone’s just following the crowd. Some DJ’s are quite tight with giving out the names of tracks on their shows, why do you think this is? Even on my radio show I try to play stuff that doesn’t get played as much either because they [DJ’s] can’t get hold of it or it’s just something new. I either go right back to tunes they can’t find anymore or bring it right up to date with new ones that they haven’t heard yet. Ich entweder nach rechts zurück zu Melodien können sie nicht mehr finden, oder bringen es richtig up to date mit neuer, dass sie noch nicht gehört.
W hat do think about R’&B DJ’s playing house music? W Hut glaube schon, über R '& B DJ spielt House-Musik?
Everyone’s switched over now so it’s good and bad. Jeder hat nun umgeschaltet, so ist es gute und schlechte. For me personally I don’t mind because it keeps you on your toes so you have to be on point. Für mich persönlich mir egal, weil er hält Sie auf Ihre Zehen so müssen Sie sich auf Punkt. It means that the music is getting to a wider audience and the R&B listeners are now listening to House as well which is another good thing. Es bedeutet, dass die Musik wird immer für ein breiteres Publikum und die R & B Zuhörer sind jetzt hören-Haus als auch das ist eine andere gute Sache. I think it works out better on my behalf. Ich denke, es klappt besser auf meinen Namen.
Do you get any animosity from the older house DJ’s? Haben Sie alle Feindseligkeit aus dem älteren Haus DJ's?
There’s different scenes in the House industry so it doesn’t occur. Es gibt verschiedene Szenen im Haus der Industrie, damit er nicht auftreten. There’s certain sides of the house scene that probably haven’t even heard of me and that’s just how it is. What’s your new Mix CD ‘Timeless Anthems’ like? Was ist Ihre neue Mix-CD "Timeless Anthems" wie?
It’s got more of the big tunes that everyone likes with a few big tunes that not everyone can play. Es hat mehr von den großen Melodien, die jeder gern mit ein paar großen Melodien, dass nicht jeder spielen kann. It’s like that for a reason because it’s on a wider scale as it’s coming out on a major label so it’s in your HMV’s and shops like that. Es ist wie es für einen Grund, weil es in größerem Maßstab wie es kommt auf einem großen Label, so ist es in Ihrem HMV und Geschäfte so. There’sa DVD with that as well with rave footage of where I’ve played my dubplates and it cut from rave to rave. Es gibt eine DVD mit, dass auch mit Rave-Footage von wo ich gespielt habe meine dubplates und schneiden sie von Rave zu Rave.
You're booked pretty much every weekend, do you actually find time to rave to this music yourself? Du bist gebucht ziemlich jedes Wochenende, tun Sie eigentlich Zeit zu finden Rave zu dieser Musik selbst?
N ot really to be honest, if I do I get about an hour, unless I go to an after-party. N ot wirklich um ehrlich zu sein, wenn ich bekomme ich etwa eine Stunde, es sei denn, ich gehe auf eine nach-Partei.
