 Following the massive success of the debut LUST album, compiled by Master At Work Louie Vega, suSU are now delighted to announce that 'all things dance' music connoisseur, production wizard and remix extraordinaire Joey Negro (aka Dave Lee, Jakatta, Akabu, Raven Maize, Z Factor, The Sunburst Band etc) is supplying the soundtrack for the follow up album.
The LUST theme is threaded and has been inspired by Swedish born artist Jonas Larrson who is fast becoming one of the acclaimed names of the visual arts fraternity. Jonas' tastefully erotic images combine conceptual imagery with textual prose. His unique blend of digitally enhanced monochrome photographs of the female form are then tinged with hand daubed paint and they caused a sensation when they were showcased as part of the 'Off the Record' series at ArtSpace Gallery in London last April.
The images from the 'Off the Record' series provide the exclusive artwork for the LUST albums and a source of inspiration for the DJ compiling them. Following Louie Vega¹s New York inspired first edition, Joey Negro has now picked up the baton, supplying two orgasmic mixes of sexy soul, funk disco, acid house, future club classics, exclusive re-edits, house anthems, current dance-floor fillers and unreleased world exclusives.
As a DJ he strives to reflect his extensive love of a massive variety of quality music by playing the kind of eclectic and mind-blowing sets that showcase the many edits and updates of tracks he¹s become famous for. The real skill of Joey Negro though, lies in his ability to make these tracks mix-in seamlessly and stand alongside the very freshest cuts as it is demonstrated on the LUST album. Who else can mix into perfection Fela Kuti¹s afro beat into Henrik Schwarz's deep techy grooves?
The first disc effortlessly drifts from funk and disco (Plantlife, Atmosfear) to deep tech house (Larry Heard, Bas Noir) into brand new cuts from Joey Negro's alter ego, Dave Lee with 'Latronica' and then onto the brilliant Pete Heller remix of Underworld's new single 'Crocodile' where the mix climaxes. The second disc is less of a mix and more of a blend of late night / early morning wind-down nuggets from deep in the crates that range from 4 Hero and Nova Fronteira to Chic, The Sunburst Band and then onto Clara Hill and the Alessi Brothers.
LUST again leaves the opposition standing, recognising that graphics and music can feed of each other, creating the perfect synergy between erotic imagery and the breathless sexual energy that epitomises the best dance music.
